What is

Assistive
Technology?

An assistive device is any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.

Children and teens within the foster care system may have a disability that requires the use of an assistive device. This device can be no tech, low tech, or high tech. In order for children and teens to be successful in their daily occupations, parents and guardians should explore various options to find what works best for their child in the home and in the community.
